Love him or hate him, AZDavidPhx has made a lasting impression on the blog with his comments and hilarious photoshop mashups.

As an outsider, he has not developed the deep appreciation we in Irvine have for our McMansions on tiny lots.

But he has noticed the cliches, spelling errors and general foolishness of some of the listing descriptions.

Like many of us, he was not impressed with the government’s bailout or the methods used to sell it.

Like the rest of us, he likes poking fun at the listing photos.

He has been at this for a while. Look forward to more installments over the holiday weekend.

Thank you AZDavidPhx, the blog would not be the same without you.

  1. Perspective

I always appreciate bearish viewpoints, and with residential real estate, an outsider’s perspective is always welcomed. AZDavid provides both with humor – thanks for that.

AZDavid’s right when he repeatedly reminds us that Irvine may be “special” relative to the alternatives in SoCal, but its median household income doesn’t allow prices to stretch anywhere near as far as they have.

IHB commenters are right when they attack AZDavid for bashing our beloved Irvine from Phoenix – a true hellhole!

AZDavid is a dose of reality. Irvine is great, but if the price is working around the clock to afford it, then how can you enjoy it. Those with tunnel vision, don’t see that others are having wonderful lives outside of Irvine.

I could have bought in Irvine, but did not want the risk of being stretched financially with that live for the house lifestyle. If I buy in Irvine someday, it will be to reduce my husband’s commute, not because I want the “OC lifestyle”.

My fav has always been the McDonalds photochop. It illustrates how retarded all these electronically gated communities are. People think that because they live behind a gate they are superior and their homes are safer than the rest of the Irvine population. It also shows how realtors take advantage of this false sense of security.

Anyone remember the family in a gated community with 24/7 guards in san clemente who were murdered and left to rot for 3 weeks before they were found? Yeah…

PS sorry if you haven’t had brunch yet.

    Hi all! Been awhile.
I have always enjoyed “Dave’s” stuff. Perhaps he’s been a little ridiculously bearish in his comments and borderline cranky but hey, we’ve had a lot to be cranky about lately. Keep up the good work!

Regarding cranky … I cannot help but get upset with all the news lately. I find I’m usually conflicted about things. For example, I have NEVER been for a gov’t bailout of any kind but our “leaders” have certainly been handing out the cash like it’s going out of style. Where is my guarantee that things will change and those of us who didn’t engage in this greedy behavior will get something in return? I find we should work something out for the auto industry but certainly have it tied to some serious strings … not the least of which ALL the management from VP on up goes out the door. Our hypocrite leaders sure tossed billions at the “investment banks” but when it comes to helping Joe Average suddenly bankruptcy sounds like a good idea. What the frunk!? Giving billions to the thieves on Wall St. is tantamount to giving yet more millions to a guy shooting craps in Vegas who’s pissed away a few million already. Those guys gambled and lost, they get to go to jail, not “help fix the problem”. Do you give an alcoholic a bottle of booze and tell him to drink his way out of alcoholism? What utter crap.

The jokes on us. Joe Taxpayer gets to foot the bill for next 20 years, IF he can keep his job and the crooks who spent the last 8 years gaming the system get billions in aid. These jerkweeds aren’t even trying to hide it. AIG parties like rockstars at 5 star resorts on your cash and they’ve got the balls to say it’s necessary for their business. GM, Ford and Chrysler toddle over to Washington in their G5’s so they can sit before their enablers and damn near demand $25BB or else they whole economy goes down the chuckhole … like it’s some kind of threat. When they get caught flying around in the private jets at $20K a pop, they don’t even bother to act ashamed. Instead they offer bullshit excuses like “corporate rules” or “it’s safer”. While I’m on the subject, anyone notice the clip of the head of Ford (Alan Mullaly) exit his Gulfstream and get handed the keys to a Mercedes S-Class and drive off? WOW! The dude runs Ford and he can’t even be bothered to drive his own products?

Folks, we’re getting screwed and these crooks don’t even have the basic decency to act ashamed. Marx was right, the revolution might be coming and maybe if we revived the guillotine things might change.

Woah, I get my very own WOT. How cool.

This is a great blog. Kudos to IrvineRenter for letting people be creative.

Thanks for all the support. It keeps it fun. Look forward to cranking out many more.

    AZDave –

As a big detractor of yours I’ve got to grab a dose of humble pie this weekend. You’ve brought a good bit of humor to the blog and made it better than it otherwise would have been.

I have appreciated that your posts have also grown in depth, rather than the rote rants “this house is worth $XXX and not one dime more” that formerly flowed from your fingertips.

Thanks for your input. Keep up the good work.

      Thanks IrvineRealtor. I appreciate that.

I’ll add a disclaimer that any future real-estate agent spoofs will apply to all but you. ;p

Three years ago I sold my first home without any Net resources. But it was very difficult for me. I heard that some services can publish ads about my home in the Internet. Can you help me to choose between Fizber and Trulia? Do you know anything about these services? My friend said that “Fizber” better than “Trulia”. But maybe he wasn’t right. So I need help.

    1. Bitter Renter

The only help I can offer is that I’ve never heard of Fizber until now, whereas I’ve heard Trulia mentioned several times, so if my experience is typical it might be more likely for people to find your ad on Trulia.

Zillow seems to have more buzz about it than Trulia, and Redfin even more than Zillow, but I’m not sure how you’re going about selling your house and whether Zillow’s and Redfin’s business models fit with your plans.
