Open Hous Review: 58 Hazelton

Located in Stonegate, this home has been listed since February with a $60,000 price reduction on March 8.  The home boasts a ground floor bedroom, panoramic patio doors and a large upstairs loft.  Although the home is only 150 square feet smaller than last week’s model, which was only one street over, there were enough differences in the layout and some of the upgrades, that I wonder which home will sell first.

The basics:
Asking Price: $1,329,500

Walking through a side gate, the front door is located on the side of the home.  Upon entering, a short hallway on the left leads to the desirable ground floor bedroom and bathroom. The hallway to the right leads to the great room and staircase to the second floor.

The bedroom is a standard size with a closet with double doors.

The bathroom is basic with a single sink and walk-in shower.  While in excellent condition, it does not come with some of the custom features, such as a decorative backsplash or upgraded flooring.  However, I like how the ceilings are high and the bathroom doesn’t feel like a typical tiny guest bathroom.

The great room consists of the kitchen, living room and dining room.  Unlike the last home I reviewed, the great room is just one large rectangle, however unique to this model are the panoramic patio doors and a small side niche between the kitchen and garage entrance with a set of upper and lower cabinets.

The living room is a nice size and has two niches, one on each side of the fireplace.   I think the niches predetermines the layout of the room.  The living room is carpeted while the rest of the great room is tiled.  This also divides the room into sections.

The kitchen island is large enough for bar seating.  The kitchen has white cabinetry, granite counter tops, full granite backsplash and stainless steel appliances.  There are plenty of cabinets for storage with an additional spacious pantry off the short hallway.  The dining area sits in front of the island and the space easily accommodates a good size dining table.

The panoramic doors from the kitchen leads to the backyard. The covered patio feels like a nice extension between the interior and outdoors.  With an outdoor fireplace, fully covered patio with a ceiling fan, and nice natural stone flooring in the patio area, it is easy to entertain and extend the patio as part of the home.  The only downfall to panoramic doors is that when they are open, it lacks screen doors to keep insects out during the summers.

A spacious loft is the first area you meet when coming up to the second level.  This room is great to have as an office, playroom, family room or game room.

With plenty of cabinets, a hanging rod and a sink, the laundry room is spacious.

The two secondary bedrooms each have an attached bathroom, with one bedroom slightly larger than the other.  While it is a luxury to have an attached bathroom, it would have been nice to have an additional powder room upstairs for guests to use, especially with the flexibility of the bonus room.

The master bedroom is a good size and has a nice short hallway separating the sleeping quarters from the bathroom.  A set of linen cabinets sit in the short hallway.  Without a privacy door at the bathroom, some light and noise may still affect people in the bedroom.   Dual sinks are separated by a large soaking tub.  Across from the tub is a stall shower, separate toilet and a walk-in closet.

The home is in move-in condition and is walking distance to Stonegate Elementary school and all of the amenities.  The home would be perfect for any family.
