Open House Review: 3 Eden

Today I am reviewing a single level home in Northwood’s Park Paseo Community located just down the street from one of the two community pools. 3 Eden is one of the first houses from the corner of a street with a cul-de-sac at the end. Single level homes do not come on the market often in Park Paseo and this home would be desirable for a family wanting to be close to the amenities as well as walking distance to the Santiago Elementary and walking or biking distance to Sierra Vista Middle School and Northwood High School.

With it being on a zero-lot-line there are no windows on one side of the home. This house has some original features such as textured ceilings, cabinetry throughout most of the home, some bathroom features, internal doors and some original lights, but everything is in excellent condition and the updates throughout just add to the nice condition of the home. With vaulted ceilings, laminate wood flooring, new windows, fresh paint and a large L-shaped yard, the property is worth looking at.

I have reviewed a different one-level model in Park Paseo and prefer the layout of the front rooms of the home, however the way the secondary bedrooms’ windows open to the atrium is not my favorite feature of this home.

The front door is located on the side of the home. The entrance leads into a tiled area with a step down living room to the left. Straight ahead is a sliding glass door leading out to the atrium. In front of the atrium is a narrow space that I have seen other properties furnish with a piano or built-in bookshelves. The garage entrance is located to the left, between the atrium and the living room. To the right is a short hallway that leads to the kitchen, family room and a hallway to the bedrooms.

The step-down living room has vaulted ceilings and 3 windows which bring in an abundance of natural light. The atrium brings in additional light to the area. The floors are a laminate wood and the room has a cozy brick fireplace.

The atrium can fit a small table and chairs. It sports new pavers and has 3 beams running across the opening up top. The atrium has two windows along the right hand wall, which are the two secondary bedroom’s windows.

The hallway has a door leading into the kitchen with the coat closet just beyond the door and leads into the open kitchen with a peninsula. The kitchen is to the right with a peninsula that separates the kitchen from a small dining area and the family room. The tile floor from the entrance flows nicely throughout the kitchen and the appliances are stainless steel. The old panel lighting is still present and the original cabinets look like they were lacquered. The countertop consists of 4×4 white tiles with wood trim so the kitchen looks a bit dated, but is in clean condition. There are plenty of cabinets and drawers for storage, as well as a floor to ceiling pantry.

The dining area and family room have wood floors. The dining area has one of the three sliding doors leading to the yard.

The family room has vaulted ceilings and a large sliding glass door. It creates an open feel. The room creates an excellent social setting and flow into the backyard.

A hallway leads back to the shared bathroom and bedrooms. The bathroom has updated tile flooring, a new bath/shower sliding glass door, toilet and sink. The cabinetry and mirror look original and the tub/shower tile surround is 4×4 tiles, but the room is in excellent condition.

To the right are double doors leading into the master bedroom. At the far wall is a sliding glass door leading to the backyard, which brings in a lot of natural light. The room is a decent size with two sets of mirrored closets. The remodeled bathroom is located through a large opening and has two single sinks with cabinets below, placed side by side. It looked a bit strange to have a gap on each side of the sinks, since the single vanities were prefabricated, but it is very functional and the decorative mirrors are updated. The old panel lighting is still present. To the right is a room with the separate shower and toilet. A narrow window is located at the top of the shower wall, bringing in natural light. Like the shared bathroom, the shower has 4×4 tile surround and the space is in excellent shape.

The other two bedrooms are average in size and have windows looking into the atrium. Each has a double door closet.

This home’s yard is a nice L-shaped with some planters, but lacks any grass, although it has the space for it. The side and main patio has a patio cover and plants against the fence. In the middle of the back patio is an awkward island with rocks and some plants. It provides some greens in the middle of the patio, but it prevents a nice flow to entertain and have a seating and bar-b-que area right outside of the family room. Perhaps it was to cover the back retaining wall that was only partially covered with decorative stone, while the other half is still cinder block?

3 Eden is located on a nice cul-de-sac street with a view of the pool at the end of the street. Although some features could be updated, the home is in excellent, clean condition. It is also nice to have a yard big enough to entertain.
