Hey where’s a good place to get takoyaki around/near irvine?

I’m pretty sure it is on the menu at Honda-Ya in Tustin.  I think I’ve seen it elsewhere, but can’t recall at the moment.  If I see it again, I’ll update the thread.

Momo - That is heart attack in a picture.  What isn’t fried is made of cream and sugar.  If I ran 24 Hour Fitness, I would put one right around the corner.

Never tried it, but I know they have takoyaki at Ebisu Ramen in Fountain Valley(okonomiyaki as well, though it comes pre-made).  Takoyaki also available at Kappo Honda just up the street and I believe Shin Sen Gumi Grill also has it.  Never tried it at any of these places so don’t know if they’re good, but you’ve certainly got some options just in that little area alone.

Oxtail - Could I impose upon you to put together your Top 10 list of Japanese restaurants?  It’s either that, or we revive the informal IHB dinner group with you as one of our consultants. 

Unfortunately I don’t live in Irvine(or the OC).  I go there often, but I currently live in the South Bay which happens to be Japanese food central.  That’s kind of why I always end up posting on these Japanese food threads. 

And I grew up in FV so I know that area pretty initmately.  Only Ebisu was there when I was growing up, though.  FV used to have a pretty boring food scene.

I’ll take South Bay. 

In a weird coincidence, Exile Kiss happened to visit a noodle restaurant in Old Torrance the same day my husband and I were there.  We went at the rec of my sis-in-law and stopped by Sakura-ya while we were in the greater neighborhood. 

My new favorite place (non-food) place is the $0.98 Marukai.

How did you know it was Exilekiss?  He doesn’t divulge much personal info on his blog.  It is a he, right?  I love his blog.  Especially since he writes about so many places in the South Bay which are a few minutes away from me.

Eventually I’m going to move back to OC, but right now I’m trying to make the most of my time up here by eating as much good Japanese food as I can!

I just know he(?) was there the same day because the day after we were there, he blogged that he was at the restaurant the day before.

I was at Fukada 2 Go yesterday and they had a sign offering Takoyaki on Sat/Sun - $5 for 8 pieces.
