It is beautiful. The owners certainly did their research into this style. Just look at the books that they have. This is not driven by low cost. It costs more to achieve this effect. Drywall is cheap and easy to put up and patch. Having natural seams of board and battens through out the house is costly. This style of controlled chaos is difficult.

I wonder how the insulation is like?  Heating & A/C… might get really cold in Costa Mesa, Jan & Feb… similarly probably fair a little better in the summer, with the high ceilings…
