I admit it. I am a chronic oversharer.

Twins runs in the family. So I was afraid that I might have twins (cousins are twins). It would be good for them to grow up together, they would always have someone to play with. The idea of having to look after 2 new born babies does not appeal to me - one is hard enough.

I have to admit I’m a little bit envious of the only child households right now. The last couple days have been with just my daughter and I at home. There is a profound calm and sense of order that has bestowed on the house since the boys left. All I kept thinking was ‘so this is what it must be to have one child…geez this is nice’. Having twins would be nice for the children. Seems like a lot of work for the parents, though.

As someone who is an only child, it kinda sucked having grown up without a brother or sister (especially a younger one to pick one).  I’m sure it’s easier for parents of only children than parents of multiple children, but easier on the parents isn’t necessarily better for the only children.  My mom always wanted to have a daughter to help her clean the house (supposedly I don’t how to do it good enough) and go shopping with her.  She was concerned of having another son because I was such a trouble maker growing up plus once we got to the US my parents were too busy working hard trying to move in life and their man focus was not on having another child.

Since you were such a pain in the tail feathers, maybe twin grandaughters will be a nice repayment to your mom. smile

T-man.. i hate to break the news to you, but you did have a twin brother who went up for adoption right after you guys were both born 10 minutes apart. He was adopted by the one of the most wealthiest man in the world. Mr. Hilton. T-man, you grew up poor but you were highly educated and you’ve accomplished a lot with your life, but your twin brother Perez on the other hand, grew up with money and have accomplished absolutely nothing.

Twins run in my wife’s family and mine.  I’m an identical twin, my cousins (my mom’s sister’s kids) are identical twins and I believe that my mom’s uncles were twins (fraternal?).  My wife has fraternal twin uncles.  As it turned out, I have identical twin sons.  I also thought that the twin gene passed through the mom side so maybe it did so through my wife.

Raising twin boys is pretty rough.  We were zombies the first year to year and a half.  No sleep.  They are a little more independent now and we can interact with them.  They are amazing and I would completely do it over again in a heartbeat.  I have a much better idea of what my parents went through raising us.  I also see the attention that my parents must have gotten as we were growing up.

Panda wasn’t the only one with a personal admission that got posted then edited out. Lucky for me I have my iphone so I can monitor IHB 24 7 in order to catch the intimate details before a “edit’. Don’t worry my mouth is zipper

So mcdonna… Did you end up taking that family vacation to costa rica? We decided to goto cancun next month instead of egypt. This may be our last vacation for a very very long time. I am getting ready to become a zombie for 1 - 1.5 years.

A zombie to twins? If that is the case, get ready to be a zombie for about 5 years. Congrats, Panda!

Not yet, Costa Rica in December. My fear of flying is keeping me from looking forward to it, though. All I can think about it being on that plane for so long. confused I love to travel but, sure enough, every time we do hubby has to drag me on the plane like a stubborn two year old. Plus, it’s a trip that is definitely out of my comfort zone. I jump at every little noise while walking on the Jeffery Open Space Trail.

Sounds like you have quite an adventure ahead of you, the best kind. smile

We had very little sleep for the first year with our twins.  It’s more than double the work in the beginning.  We went through our first year as zombies and just trying to survive.  It’s a hard sudden jolt to your body.  Now that they are older, it’s probably less work in some respects than having one.  They have an instant playmate.  We don’t have to entertain them all the time.  They entertain each other in the morning so we can rest a little longer.  They’ve never been afraid to sleep in another room away from us since they’ve always had someone over in the next crib.

Just that you can think this way makes me very, very scared. I know you are joking, but seriously.

What, haven’t you read your kids Hansel and Gretel? Panda’s plot is the stuff classic children’s tales are made of. wink

Seriously. Soup Plantation is not exactly a fine dining experience. (No offense, Cameray.) I just always expect commotion at a joint like that where patrons are up and about, serving themselves, and it’s more family-oriented. They also seat themselves which means you are free to move to a new table at any time if you want to. (Being able to make a napkin animal may come in handy here too.)

Yes, I guess you’d have to be an idiot to think that someone’s child wasn’t going to bother you at a place like that. Personally, I haven’t yet hit the stage where I can go somewhere like that and actually eat (not to mention that my husband HATES buffet style food). Actually, we did go there once, I felt like a waitress, I don’t think I sat down for two solid minutes with 3 kids in tow (my nephew was with us). It was actually worse than being at home.
And no, I haven’t read Hansel and Gretel to my kids yet, life is hard enough without any more crazy, irrational fears running through their heads.
I’m awaiting Panda’s adventure, I hope he’ll post about it, does anyone know when the due date is, he seems to be very quiet? Details, Panda, please.

Hi Tmare,

Not much adventure going on right now. My wife is now in her second trimester and I will know the baby’s sex in about a month. I know my wife was really depressed when she a miscarriage last year, but I have tell ya, The Man above Delivers. I consider the two future Panda twins as “double blessings from above”. We are really hoping for one girl and one boy.. so that i can name them Jeremy and Anabella. It is amazing what type of wonderful people you can meet on IHB. JVNA was very generous to write two long PMs about his experience and advice in raising twins on an Irvine Housing Blog. Cool right?

I reread JVNA’s PM to my wife today and she really really liked it. I’ll keep you posted.

Darn it!  The video ended and he never told them the sex! (I thought I saw a peter at one point.)  Thanks for sharing, Panda.  I learned a lot!  And, congrats!

Thanks Sunshine, I’m glad that you learned a lot from this ultra sound video. Cool huh? Seriously, I sounded just like that guy on my first ultra sound visit that my wife said, “That’s you Panda!”
