I saw the infomercial and bought the product - first time ever. It’s amazing. We’ve consumed $40 of fresh vegetables and fruits in the last 24 hours. I am now on the prowl for cheap high quality produce in my area. I feel great.

I thought about getting that thing many years ago. I can’t remember, what makes it different from a regular juice machine?

Would you believe that Jack is 94 years young and still works out two hours every morning?
He has two rules when it comes to eating: “if man made it, don’t eat it”, and “if it tastes good, spit it out.”

the design in my opinion. It works really well and has a solid industrial feel to it. I’ve fed through apples cut in half, whole peeled lemons, whole raw beets with leaves, whole carrots, whole stalks of celery, whole ginger, whole bunches of grapes with stems, whole broccoli, quartered heads of cabbage, and a bunch of parsley. It jammed one time with too big of a piece of cabbage however the design makes it easy to pop off the top and clean out the offending piece. I paid $150 for the stainless steel “Pro” model. A great value IMO.

We’ve had one for years, and LOVE it! We use it all the time. We love to make special juices for company when they come to visit - everyone loves it. My nephews always ask for fresh juice whenever they visit us. It’s a keeper!

He has two rules when it comes to eating: “if man made it, don’t eat it”, and “if it tastes good, spit it out.”

He also said, “I can’t die…it would be bad for my image!”
I remember watching his original show when I was home sick from school in the sixties. After singing the closing song (the same one he sings in the infomercials) he would always break into jumping jacks while the closing credits rolled. I wonder if he can still do that…

Wow, $40 of grocery can feed my family of seven for an entire week! Well, not really, but you got the idea.

Actually - if you go to a church, you almost can. Several of them have programs now where you get a deal on food. For example, $30 can feed a family of four for a week.

For cheap produce, I’ve heard you can ask at the farmers market towards the end of they day and they will give away (or sell cheaply) stuff that they couldn’t sell or stuff that just wasn’t pretty enough but is otherwise good.

My wife would divorce me if I tried to create 7 meals out of $40.

Try dumpster diving at Gelson, Whole Foods, and Trader Joes. All three throw out their produce before the expiration dates. Many divers in the green movement are doing it.

I love my Jack Lalanne juicer, but I hate cleaning it. We haven’t used it much since we moved because we had huge orange and grapefruit trees before and one lemon tree now that refuses to give me lemons. For cheap produce, I’d go to the OC swap meet later in the day. The prices plummet. As for dumpster diving, that’s a green movement I won’t be participating in!

If I recall, I think the cleaning part was the reason I didn’t buy it. I just hate another appliance that sits, taking up space for whatever the reason is that I don’t use it.

For just one two oranges or lemons (ex. for marinade or something), I just squish the fruit a little, then quarter it with a knife and hand squeeze it over my measuring cup (so I can fish the seeds out with a fork if any drop in).
For a lot (ex. making orange juice), I pull out the small & cheap citrus juicer for $20 or so, works fine. But usually, I just eat the fruit whole, it’s supposed to be better for you anyway that way.

But this is how you lose the weight. You expend twice the calories cleaning it than you just drank from the juice!

Are you peeling those beets first?

I just put it in the dishwasher.
The part that gets dirty twists off from the motor.
It comes out sparkling clean.

Actually, I did mentioned at this forum that I did dumpster diving, and some of the member decided not to come to my block party when I eventually buy a house due to questionable source of produces.
