They can have their fermented berries.
Schwarzbier, or "black beer," is a German dark lager beer with an opaque, black color and a full, chocolatey or coffee flavor… They get their dark color from the use of particularly dark malts in brewing. The malt in turn gets its color during the roasting procedure.
Mmmm.   Roasted beer.

Nice nutty flavor, a little alcohol breakthough but not too bad.  The hops are under control (not a big fan of highly hopped brews).  Noticable caramel aroma with a hint of toffee.
This would work well with flavorful cuts of meat (Ribeye, mayhaps).
This is often found in a mixpack with Sam Adams Honey Porter, Boston Ale (much better than their mass-market Boston Lager), their hefeweizen, and a couple of other interesting brews.

Mmmmm beeeeerrrrr. If you like that try the Bridgeport porter no food needed it’s a meal in itself. You can find it at bevmo.
When it comes to alcohol I only discriminate against crappy alcohol.
Why am I not surprised you started this thread?

oc_fliptrack:  You like Anchor Steam?  Definitely not as dark, but pretty good for a mass produced beer.

In 1996, I stopped counting new labels that I had tried (hat tip U.S. Navy).  I’m not trying to boast as most of them really were not that good.  It’s like saying I walked from Irvine to Fountain Valley.  What did you see?  Well, I saw an airport, a big mall, a freeway.  That would be analgous to my beer trek.  My friend and I would rate them from 1 to 10.  We never gave a 10 because that would mean the quest is over and we never gave a 1 because of some made-up reason.  (The 10 reason was very true though).  One of the highest ranking beers we ever drank was made by this group of yahoos specifically Carol.

One of our worst beers was Kronenbourg in cans that had probably been sitting on a warm dock previous to us drinking it..  Foul, foul, foul.

My personal favs are Dixie Blackened Voodoo lager, Pete’s Wicked Ale, and the above-mentioned Stoudts when I can get my hands on it.

I’m the guy handing-off the ‘77 Chevy 4x4 half-ton with glasspacks and a taped-up windshield to the country club valet.

Then the valet drives off and floors it around the parking lot to set off every one of the car alarms in the lot. All the while his buddy scrambles for the key fobs to shut them off. You start laughing and as you leave you give the valet a high five and fat tip. Because it was worth it just to see the sheeples faces as you walked in.
Well that is what I would do. I just need a clunker, well I have one but it is not loud.

Back in the day when I used to frequent The Goat, they had a great dark German beer.  It was so loud in there, I never figured out the name, but I recall that it rhymed with m*th*rf*ck*r.  Anybody know the name?  When I was in my 20’s, I could get away with ordering a beer that way, but probably not anymore.

1. Roll 20mph.
2. Turn key off.
3. Exhaust system fills up with unburned gas fumes.
4. Turn key on.
5. BANG!
6. Repeat
Why settle for car alarms when you can get the SWAT team called out?

First time I had Boddington’s I was sauced.  I spent 5 minutes shaking the empty can, peering in it, sticking my finger in there.  I’m sure I looked like a dumb monkey trying to figure it out.

Sam’s has Fat Tire from time to time.  I should get some again.  I really should keep better notes on my beers ‘cause I don’t remember if I liked it or not.

Bear Republic has some good beers too which you can get at BevMo. I had their brown ale when I lived up north at Cato’s in Oakland. It is one of the best I ever had. I also had Sierra Nevada’s brown ale there before they went miller time. If you are ever there the brown ale washes down the pesto, mushroom and sausage pizza better than any there. I miss the bay area. Good food, great beer and I didn’t have to worry about driving home.

Bear Republic has jumbo bottles, creative label art, and of course a great name; however, I was disappointed by their IPA because it was only nominally hopsy. I recommend Deschutes Inversion IPA.

I’ve see your "nominally hopsy" and raise you this "creative label art":

This brew has my name written all over it!

That is good beer. Yes it does suit you very well in a good way. Now if I go to the REDC auction and I see a guy in a ABA t-shirt I will know that it is oc_fliptrack.

Ok that would have been my second guess. My third would be "got yen?" but then it could be this one or this one but the ultimate is this one.

The Arrogant Bastard is my husband’s favorite beer.  You can go to the brewery near San Diego and take a tour.  They sell it at BevMo and Whole Foods.

The best part about buying a house was that I was able to put our old fridge in the garage and turn it into a DBF (dedicated beer fridge).  Completely full of Beer, or at least it was.  Need to go back to Bevmo.  My current favorite is Stone IPA.  Nice and hoppy.

I had an Oregon beer this weekend.  Moose Drool

I’d buy it again.  I thought it was more amber and hoppy than normal for an ale.  Great name too.

I have a new favorite beer—Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout.  If you like dark beers, you have to try this one.  It is absolutely delicious!

I had the Oatmeal once.  It came in a "Beers of the World" pack (it was a gift).  I put off drinking it because I wasn’t really sure what it was.  It turned out to be quite good!
