Everyone in education is in “wait and see” mode. There are so many unknowns out there right now and when you throw in the competing interests of districts versus unions it becomes even more confusing to figure out who is telling the truth and who is using scare tactics. Everyone agrees that it is bad, but some of the tactics used are purely for show.
They are not layoff notices, they are not terminations, they are only a pre-notice that you may actually get a layoff notice.
As the article says, basically, they’re giving almost everybody notice so they can actually decide what to do. If they don’t give you a pink slip first, they can’t lay you off later.
