Best prices I have found are Trader Joe’s and Mother’s Market (when it’s on sale).

Jeezus freaking christ… will you two just shut the f*ck up about milk. Yes, anyone paying $5 for a gallon of milk is a moron. For gawdsakes, just look at the grocery ads, it’s proof you are dumb if you pay more than $3. That’s why it is called shopping, you shop for the best quality and best prices. If you are too lazy to do that, then you deserve to be ridiculed.

Hey NV, is it true that in organic milk, the puss from the blisters from the cows udder doesn’t get filtered? Isn’t also true that organic milk isn’t pasteurized and homogenized?

Serious Weapon - 23 February 2009 11:27 PM Hey NV, is it true that in organic milk, the puss from the blisters from the cows udder doesn’t get filtered? Isn’t also true that organic milk isn’t pasteurized and homogenized?
Uh……….I don’t think so. If you’ve got a cow like that, it needs to be removed from the herd ASAP because the infection will get away from you and kill the cow.
Organic milk comes from cows that get limited antibiotics and no bST. I think it’s illegal to sell unpasteurized milk for human consumption. Homogenization just keeps the butterfat (cream) in solution so it doesn’t float to the top.
My buddy makes his own yogurt, and tried it once with regular whole milk. Once. He said it was horrible. I don’t know for sure, but I’d have to guess that organic milk has higher butterfat content than 2%. People who I trust who know better tell me it tastes different.
It would also explain how they get double the price. It’s hard to make money with fluid market milk. The real money is the premium you get for delivering high butterfat, which they need for ice cream and butter.
I won’t drink the stuff, personally. Organic citrus is fine, otherwise, I am partial to petrochemicals.

Stater Bros. has an advertised special for $3.99. I don’t shop at Costco .

I would like to add my two cents to this fascinating discussion. Last week I bought two gallons at Ralph’s for $3.89. I think last summer I was lucky to get one gallon for that price.

momopi - 24 February 2009 11:32 AM o.O How much milk do you guys drink every day?!
Some users drink 4-6 gallons a week, and pay $5.36 a gallon for it.
got milk? - 23 February 2009 08:09 PM
I buy 4-6 Gallons of Milk per week…..not ONE last week. They are $5.36 if you purchase two at the same time.
See post #36 here.

Same with rice milk (I buy in boxes and it’s shelf stable).

Can we please not get Momo to talk about food at this moment? If you remember, it’s between his ‘banned’ hours from posting food photos.

If I put a certain poster on my ignore list (which currently has only has one occupant), will the 15 new topics started each day also not be displayed?
Can we get a limit on new topics/threads started per day per member, to maybe 2?
I’m getting fed up with the excess of non-housing/economy topics each day that are new.

Remember, response to a crisis usually makes bad policy.

Update:
Milk at Stater Bros. is TWO gallons for 2.99 if you can tolerate nonfat. Top shelf primo 2% is 3.49 for TWO gallons.
In these tough times, every penny counts. DO NOT OVERPAY FOR MILK.

All of this milk talk makes me thankful that I didn’t pick on the a**hole’s comparisons of GAS prices. no_vas could have ended up banned for that one!

I figured I had an edge because I knew were the USDA regional milk pricing data was buried and I could use it. I never got to whip that one out.

I’m going to continue update this thread on current milk prices once a week TFN.
BTW, looky what I found:
^^banned for what? Calling people names….like “F***ing Retarded?
When you arrive at Banned camp remember, I’ll be there on the top bunk.
I think I’ve made my point.
“Got Milk?” showin’ off his big brain on a car related forum.
I didn’t know he went to Banned Camp?
