Well, there is always Craig’s list.  If you are considering Irvine, Tustin or Newport Beach area, you can look into an IAC Apartment.

Looking thru craigslist now but was wondering if there was a more efficent way to do this.

Short answer, no.

Don’t rule out a living breathing realtor (lowercase, no TM) for MLS rentals.

That is where I found my rental house.

However, I have rented my investment properties using craigslist.

Realtor.com and homeseekers.com are good for researching the market, but their listing satus is normally 7 days outdated.  To save time, talk to a local Realtor; it most likely doesn’t cost you anything.  Compared to apartment rentals, you normally prepay higher deposit (=one month of rent) for private condo/townhouse; in return, you have more decent living environment.  For instance, you can lease a 2 bedroom / 1 bath condo in Westpark for about $1750 per month; this is one of my rent transactions.

I live in the Village (IAC) and love it. You must check it out. It’s like living in a hotel. We have starbucks and a market. Every Sunday they have brunch for 15.95. The activities are about every other day. I have been to wine tasting, movie night, casino night, summer concert etc.. This is my third IAC so I am familiar with others. Nothing is like this place.

How is the internet access and mobile phone reception at the Village?

I hesitate to post this here because I’m pretty sure marketing oneself on a forum like this is frowned upon.

However, if you’re looking for help locating a good rental around here, I’m a broker with access to information on privately owned properties as well as IAC properties (I have a lot of contacts among IAC employees so I usually have a pretty good idea of the amenities, restrictions, discounts, etc). 

If you’re interested in having me match your specific criteria with options around here and even visiting them with you and working to negotiate lease terms and rates, I’m happy to do that and collect the referral fee paid by the property/owner.

The Village is definitely one of IAC’s flagships.  There are a few characteristics related to a 1552 unit community that aren’t right for everyone.  But it is brand new, and the amenities are matched by only a small handful of other communities.

Also on IAC’s higher end of apartment homes are Villa Siena (again, very large and not for everyone at 1442 apartments), Woodbury Court/Place/Square, The Enclave (brand new on the border in Costa Mesa), Orchard Hills, and Newport Bluffs.

They also opened the doors on a brand new property near the Woodburies called “Palmeras.“  They are offering some great incentives for their first residents.  You would also be the first person to occupy your apartment which is a pretty neat opportunity to have.

There are many more IAC options as well as privately owned properties.  If you can get more specific about your move in time frame, price range, pets, cars/garage needs, etc etc etc we can narrow down the options a bit.  But I’m a believer that there are very few places in Irvine one would be miserable at.  Most places are very nice and the only thing separating them are details.
