Hurricane Hana is predicted to batter America’s east coast later this week, with Hurricane Ike forming in the Atlantic behind it. Hurricane Josephine is right behind this one.

That is intense: 6 hurricanes in 3 years. Katrina, Rita, Gustav, Hana, Ike, and Josepine. Is God mad at us?

$250 for 4 hours of your life

I got one of these letters in the mail about market research. They say call this number, and they will ask you a few questions, and if you are the right demographic, they will ask you to go to these discussion panels and pay you $250 at the end.

Now, I wonder what you gals/guys feel about these? Do they usually just get what they wanted in the initial phone “interviews,” and tell you that you are not the right type for the paid section of it? Is this some kind of scam similar to the time share/retirement/investment presentation?

Great Park: Night Flights

Has anyone checked out the Great Park Night Flight events? I actually went to one a couple weeks ago and there must have been at least a thousand folks watching a concert under the stars. I was actually pretty impressed by the free event. The facilities were new and clean, lots of open space for the kids, and even on site food vendor (though I just brought my own food). The balloon still is free and you can ride it in the evenings as well. For all the bad press the Great Park gets this event series is positive news for the park. I hope they continue to offer more events like this throughout the year.

Well, I don’t even know if it’s reached hurricane status yet, but I just got a “breaking news” alert from CNN that Mayor Nagin has just ordered the evacuation of New Orleans in anticipation of “The Mother of All Storms”.

“They made it very clear that this storm could be as bad as it gets,” Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal said Saturday afternoon of the Category 4 storm, with sustained winds that reached 150 mph. “We could see flooding even worse than we saw in Hurricane Katrina.”
