that pipe contraptions scares me…..
If that place isn’t a total (drug) bust, I dunno what is…
The MLS link is missing…. Also a secret room in a 1700 sq foot home is sort of silly, eh?
Now, a 17000 sq foot Mansion with a DeSade Secret Dungeon and a Cheech and Chong Secret Arboretum with dedicated solar panel power, well, that would be secret.
What a waste of money.
Maybe these people are fleeing the KGB?
Or since this is the neo Italianate QH, this is a modern hiding room from the Medici.. How apropos to take the style to the extreme.

Jim Kilnge talks about inflation measurement:
Inflation is 4%, 7.3%, or 11.6% depending on the method used.
What do you think?
If inflation had been running at about 10% over the last 7 years (as the later method shows) that would mean that the general price level had doubled since 2001. I can only speak for myself, but other than gas, it doesn’t seem like much of what I buy has even come close to doubling since the start of the decade.
That was my first impression as well. Thus my question to the blog to get more discussion on these three methods.
Home prices had more than doubled in CA and many other locations since 2001. And this is a big one.
It has 11 sales in 2 months in 2004??? WTF?
Silly stuff.
Good thing the folks at irvinghousingblog are documenting the stuff. Whenever the book comes out, please keep the website up with all it’s content regardless of what the publishers say. The book will help the website and vice versa.
As far as I’m concerned, the secret room would have to be a bank vault lined with bars of gold in order to make that purchase.
Is that available in wallpaper?
A cask of Amontillado?
“FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, MONTRESSOR!”
Maybe this is the secret room:

I will go 220 GRM if that is the case
“What are the dimensions?” LOL
That is hilarious. Thank you.
The Gimp
I heard the term “astute observation” in the movie Iron Man last night.
Ummm….not so secret anymore. I guess they can now convert their own private “panic room” into, well, a closet.
was the secret room shown in the listing? The ceilings are disturbingly high for me, I’d hate to have an attack of agoraphobia in my own living/dining room
Panic room. LOL!
Spring season is ending…….300K reduction in one stroke…..
