Interesting map! The thread included one post talking about how modern landfills don’t have much odor. Based on driving near that area (near Woodbury, in particular, but sometimes even near Northwood), I have to disagree. Particularly on days when the wind blows, you can smell a foul odor in the air. And that Bee Canyon / Frank Bowerman Landfill is still relatively new, right? That doesn’t bode well for any of the communities near it.

Anyone have more details on Stonegate or Orchard Hills?

Orchard Hills is apparently on track for opening the residential side in late 2007, per the Irvine Company website (look under villages and you will see Orchard Hills).

As for Stonegate, I don’t know much.  We passed by it one day and I saw the name on an AQMD or water quality notice.  When we got home, I started googling.  It’s all rather under the radar, though.  Perhaps some enterprising commenters will enlighten us.

I finally remembered the easy way to find the Stonegate info on the City’s website, although there were only two documents.

Here is one .pdf :  http://www.ci.irvine.ca.us/civica/filebank/blobdload.asp?BlobID=5452

Within the documents, do a search for “Stonegate” and you will get some (but not much) info.

For Orchard Hills info, go to Yahoo and put this text in the search box:

“orchard hills” site:www.ci.irvine.ca.us/

I suppose one of us could actually call the City Planning and ask to look over the specific plan for this area and/or see if Planning will e-mail you the document (although they are usually huge).
